Mindfulness is about being present to the every day moments of our life, with a kindly and accepting awareness. Being mindful allows for a clearer understanding of how thoughts and emotions can affect our quality of life.
Studies show that we are happier when we are present; and that mindfulness – paying attention to what is happening in the present moment - can significantly improve our well being and help reduce stress and anxiety both in the body and mind.
Benefits of mindfulness include:
It can also feel like taking time to do something for yourself and feeling more in control, learning how to make choices that support well-being, now and in the future, in good times and when tough days return.
Jane is a mindfulness teacher and is trained in MBSR ( Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction); MBCT (Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy) and MBCT for Cancer, 8 Week Mindfulness Courses which she teaches on behalf of a breast cancer charity, offering people with cancer a means to bring mindfulness and kindliness into their lives.
My name is Lisa Barton I was employed at Breast Cancer Haven as their Information & Support Advisor.
My background is in mental health, so I can offer the group relaxation sessions, looking at building up their resilience and drawing of their inner resources to help manage the best they can when diagnosed with breast cancer
My name is Kelly Smith and I’m the salon owner of Studio K Hairdressing. I have over 23 years experience in hairdressing, which includes 16 years as an Art director, NVQ assessor and Strength and Style consultant at Toni & Guy. Training as a Strength and Style consultant gave me experience and knowledge of all aspects of hair when going through cancer treatment.
I can offer a friendly, informal question and answer session to hopefully help with some questions you may have in relation to hair and offer advice if needed.
We are a charity located in Herefordshire county offering support to people and their families before, during and after their diagnoses with Breast Cancer.
